Hello everybody! My first ever post.
I often hear people say about me, “She looks so happy. Like she’s having a good day.” I hear it often; nearly every time I go out. I assume it has to do with a good attitude. This is by way of being appreciative of everything. Listen. It’s not hard to shop, if you shop smart. Focus on the task at hand but make it fun. {Make a goal to see how much free stuff you can earn on your budget.}
Some might consider me a bonafide queen of comparison shopping. I’m not the type to drone on about problems in my life. I am here in hopes that anything I have learned will benefit people. In a way where they say, “I will never be able to thank her enough.” I want them to feel better about their future. So without dancing around the subject, let’s rip off the band aid!
First off, what do people want? They want something that they can’t get anywhere else. What more? They want it at an affordable cost. Why? The majority of the Earths inhabitants are receiving low income. Whether it be from Social Security Disability or a minimum wage job. Along with those two things, they want a clean, calm and welcoming environment. However, finding all of those takes time and experience.
First rule of thumb. DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN NOT TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR ANYTHING!!! Learn how to make meals with BOGO deals. Also, save things bought in bulk amounts for later down the line. How will you know? Think the BIGGER picture. Will I need this again because it’s a staple in my home? {Something you use on a regular basis.}
A little ditty I made up in my head. “If it’s cheaper than Dollar Tree then buy 3.”
One thing that is always BOGO, every week and never fails; cereal. Always check the advertisements in advance. Sometimes it’s …
*CVS
*Walgreens or
*Harvey’s.
Not to mention that they all have their own rewards systems. Also, what I absolutely LOVE about cereal is that you can eat it as a meal or a snack.
A second pantry staple that are frequently marked down in price are russet potatoes. I know you’re wondering what to do with so many of them? Dice them up into a pan sprayed with cooking oil. Put them on low heat and add salt, pepper, garlic and chicken powder. {Light on the last one because it’s salty.} Keep testing them until they are golden crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Also, french fries, fresh mashed potatoes, twice baked or shred them up with the previous seasonings to make hashbrowns. If you start to feel frustrated or aggravated, walk away and breathe deeply. Dollar Tree has those too!
One last thing I swear by are chicken thighs. They are the darker, cheaper cut of meat. However, by way of my experience, they come out easier to chew and juicy when cooked properly. They are cost efficient on all budgets. You can cook them in advance in large amounts and freeze them for later. Some recipes you can use these in? Dice it up in soups, alfredo, make a chicken salad to go on toast or shred it and roll it up in a burrito with Taco Bell chipotle sauce.
As I am sure you can already tell, I am winding down with this session. What’s a low cost meal that uses minimal ingredients that’s a winner in your home? Let us know, down below.
